Impact analysis of the federal sponsorship programme 'people support people'

Together with the DESI, the IfS carried out an impact analysis of the ‘people support people’ sponsorship programme.

At the beginning of 2016, the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth launched the ‘people support people’ programme, which supports sponsorships between refugees and people living in Germany. In 2019, the sponsorship programme was expanded to include the target group of people from disadvantaged backgrounds. By the end of May 2019, around 80,000 sponsorships had been realised by the programme sponsors.

As part of the impact analysis there has been analysed the extent to which programme objectives such as promoting equal participation and strengthening civic engagement and social cohesion were achieved. Furthermore, the importance of the sponsorships for the various stakeholder groups and levels was examined, as well es the qualification and support for the sponsorship tandems and the networking and exchange of knowledge between the programme sponsors.
